Greek Orthodox Monastery

LOCATION:

New Zealand’s only Greek Orthodox monastery. It sits on 495 Gladstone Road in Levin, in the Manawatū region.

Founded in 2009 under the Holy Metropolis of New Zealand, it was completed around 2012.

Archimandrite Meletios Pantic serves as Abbot of the Monastery

This peaceful place offers a quiet space for prayer, reflection, and spiritual life.

The monastery follows traditional Orthodox Christian practices. Monks live a simple, devoted life of worship, work, and hospitality.

Visitors can attend services in the beautiful main chapel, which features traditional icons and architecture.

The grounds provide a calm rural setting for those seeking stillness or learning about Orthodox faith. A guesthouse project aims to welcome more pilgrims.

The monastery serves the wider Orthodox community in New Zealand and the Pacific.

It is open to respectful visitors, but it is best to check ahead for service times or visits.

The Sacred Monastery of the Holy Archangels is a special spiritual landmark that brings ancient Christian tradition to the New Zealand countryside.
