Kimbolton Heritage Park

Heritage Park, Kimbolton is a beautiful rhododendron garden in New Zealand.

Managed by the Heritage Park Rhododendron Charitable Trust and cared for by volunteers, the park is supported by the “Friends of Heritage Park” group (established 2006).

Started in 1969 on 4.5 hectares, the garden now holds a nationally important collection of over 2,000 rhododendrons and many azaleas. Attractive lawns, trees, shrubs, and ponds make it a lovely spot for quiet walks, family gatherings, weddings, and community events.

Dr John Yeates helped establish the park after the New Zealand Rhododendron Association needed a new home for their plants. The rich soil and climate in Kimbolton were perfect for growing rhododendrons.

The park also plays a key role in conserving endangered rhododendron species for future generations.
