The track starts from a rest area off State Highway 3, about 12 km south of Hawera.
It is a short, easy stroll of around 20–40 minutes return on a sealed path with some gentle hills. Has some nice rural views across farmland and the river valley.
The main highlight is the impressive Manawapou Viaduct. Built in 1966
It is 133 meters long and stands 44.5 meters above the river.
You can walk right up to it and admire the engineering from a safe viewpoint.
There are no steep climbs or difficult sections, so it works well for a leg stretch or picnic. The walkway was created by repurposing the old road after the main highway changed.
It is free to visit and open during daylight hours.
