Ngahere Steam Locomotive

The Ngahere steam locomotive refers to the historic logging locomotives that operated in the Grey Valley at the New Forest Sawmilling Company mill in Ngahere, West Coast, New Zealand, most notably a preserved two-truck Heisler geared locomotive.

According to "West Coast Recollections"

• The Heisler Locomotive: A 0-4-0+0-4-0 two-truck Heisler geared steam engine (builder number 1494, built in 1919) worked at the Ngahere sawmill [15]. 
• Mill Work: It shunted timber wagons, handled peelers for Fletcher, and moved firewood slab carts to the New Zealand Railways (NZR) yard at Ngahere station. 

The is a restored and operational locomotive from Ngahere at the Ferrymead Heritage Park in Christchurch.
